Brand-Who?

Brando is a globally well-connected, passionate, and award-winning creative brand strategist with a 25+ years multi-dimensional perspective within the marketing-communication industry.

His career kicked-off at a small independent audio-visual production and media planning agency in his hometown Berlin, which also headquartered a global TV commercial recycling business, that immediately fascinated him - so he took it on: to grow.

After completing his apprenticeship, he moved to Barcelona, where he, in addition to his role as a classical account manager in an advertising agency, started to lead and grow a small pan-European agency network into the world’s largest independent marketing-communication network.

After 10 years in Barcelona, actually trying to find a job in one of his favorite cities: Copenhagen, Amsterdam or Zurich, he moved to Frankfurt, taking on different roles at WPP’s research-based brand consultancy Millward Brown - now Kantar. Leading national + international qualitative research projects across a very diverse range of industries, categories, and brands, traveling 130+ days a year through 60+ countries, and always working with multi-culturally diverse teams all around the world, added to his broad portfolio of expertise and experiences.

In 2015, the world’s largest home appliance company based in South China was looking for a Global Head of Brand Management & Communication. After 15+ years on agency side, that seemed like the perfect move to apply his accumulated knowledge and lead global teams in a Fortune500 company.

Within Midea Group, Brando led the repositioning + global launch of Midea, the refresh of the acquired TOSHIBA brand, created the young & trendy Comfee’ brand from scratch, established the Midea Group corporate holding company brand, outlined the overall future ‘Smart Home’ communication strategy for all Midea Group’s home appliances’ brands, and just before leaving the company, was working on refreshing the acquired American eureka brand as well as pimping up the newly created Italian premium built-in MasterKitchen brand for global their respective global launches.

At Midea Brando also developed the brand's ‘Global Sponsorship Strategy’, the foundation to later signing the company’s first ever global sponsorship contracts with a portfolio of City Football Group’s clubs like Manchester City, New York City and Mumbai City, as well as the AFF Suzuki Cup. In July 2023, Brando strengthened the global portfolio by signing Erling Haaland as Midea’s 'Global Brand Ambassador'.

In his youth, for over 10 years, Brando was a competitive swimmer in East-Germany’s renowned Berlin Sports School. A time which formed and influenced his current character, values and believes about success - instilling traits such as the importance of discipline, focus and self-challenge (to the limit!) by always looking for continuous improvement(s). Attributes also motivating him in 2007 in Barcelona to dare to pursue his Executive MBA in Spanish, during the evening and weekends, at one of Spain’s leading business schools.

Brando’s wife, running her own Leadership Consultancy firm, is from Accra, his son born in Guangzhou and the young family now living in Dubai, continuing the inter-continental life they love and embrace. Being multi-lingually fluent in English, Spanish and German, still studying Chinese, and having accumulated the basics in French, Catalan, Portuguese, and Russian, is currently being completed by living in an Arabic speaking country...
