HQ vs Local

Working in HQ (headquarters) is never easy -
and even more difficult when your company is not a top-down marketing driven company.
Country marketing people always think + but mostly say only behind your back:

  • 'HQ guy, you don't know my market' = all you do does not work here

Of course, human egos are big, while marketing egos are even bigger 😊

  • "Just 'implementing' Global Guidelines + using Global Assets is boring (sorry, won't work in my market!)"
  • "All those guidelines + rules just kill creativity, and I need more flexibility in my market"

= would the in-experienced + in-capable local marketing manager always use as an excuse, to find a way to have fun with the local agency, which of course, will always support that thinking to generate extra budget + fame...
    = but hey, nobody was born a CEO = it's all about #learning + #growing

Community

THEREFORE, most important + most difficult is creating a 'GLOBAL COMMUNITY' to break those silos + form 'ONE TEAM'

  • it's essential to explain the different R&R (roles & responsibilities)
  • it's inevitable to elaborate WHY global guidelines are needed = in use ...but always be able to be 'adjusted' when teams have a dialogue
  • it's crucial to showcase how local 'creativity' is possible within the 'guidelines'
  • it can only be beneficial if everyone is sharing everything for mutual inspiration + usage

Online Meetings

  • it's mandatory to attend those meetings without your phone + pay full attention
  • of course, this is hard if content is just too boring + irrelevant...
  • ...BUT then open your mouth and not just complain BUT contribute ideas of improvement!

...sounds all so obvious right?

well, reality is just even senior people cannot manage! ...and juniors learn copy & paste 🤬

REAL Meetings

...since all above is just normal human + busy corporate people behavior, regular REAL Face2Face Meetings are inevitable!

We are humans, and once met in person, we also pay better online respect.

Trust me + Try it!

Watch outs from my side here:

  • only senior people travel to such meetings to save costs...
  • but actually the people who finally work together on the daily business still have never met and hence,
  • not formed that necessary bound + respect
  • = often saving costs have wasted those opportunities

Team-Building

...in Feb 2020, due to the 🦠 Outbreak we have only be a very few still being able to travel for the 'Onboarding Meeting'
